The Silverado 1500 is receiving several trailering upgrades for 2021

For the 2021 model year, Chevy has tweaked the capability and trailering systems on the Silverado 1500 to make towing simpler and safer. In fact, the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 boasts an assortment of new towing and hauling improvements that deserves some praise.

Power Boost

Several Silverado engines experience a power boost for the 2021 model year. The 2.7-liter turbo engine can now tow up to 9,600 pounds when the regular cab/long box variant is properly equipped. Additionally, the 3.0-liter Duramax® turbodiesel engine has a new towing capacity of 9,500 pounds.

Advanced Technology

An advanced cargo bed zoom view and bed hitch guidance makes it easier for truck drivers to hitch gooseneck/fifth-wheel trailers. Furthermore, a new Jack-Knife Alert features notifies you when the trailer is at risk of a jack-knife scenario, so you have time to avert this dangerous situation. This new feature is a blessing whether you tow trailers frequently or just occasionally.
